Our Team

The lawyers at Bakers Solicitors in Aldershot maintain the highest standards of practice. Abigail Anum

Abigail Anum

Litigation Assistant

public liability, employers liability and road traffic accidents, from their early stages until decision on liability has been made. Having graduated with a Law Degree (LLB) in 2016, Abigail plans to do her Legal Practice Course in the near future. In her spare time Abigail enjoys reading, playing sports and hanging out with her friends and family.

Annie-Louise completed her LLB Law Degree and Legal Practice Course prior to joining Bakers Solicitors in 2015.

Annie-Louise works as a Paralegal, dealing with all types of claims in their initial stages. Her aim is to qualify as a Solicitor.

In her spare time, Annie-Louise enjoys baking, reading, spending time with friends & family and sport.

Carol began work for a firm of Solicitors in Ashford, Middlesex, straight from leaving school at 16, as a receptionist. It was there that she first became “hooked” on the law. Taking time out in 1993 to raise twin girls, Carol then went to college on day release, attended night school and undertook home correspondence courses to gain her qualification as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives graduating in November 2000.

Carol joined Bakers Solicitors in October 1999 and has been with the firm ever since enjoying promotion to Associate in May 2010. Carol is now in charge of the Road Traffic Accident (RTA) Department at Bakers.

Outside work, she attends the gym most evenings and also plays tennis for Camberley Tennis Club, Ladies team.

Charlotte Whymark

Charlotte Whymark

Litigation Executive

Charlotte (Charlie) joined Bakers Solicitors in 2010 and has over 10 years experience working within the personal injury industry. Charlotte deals with Public, Employment and Motor liability cases from receipt of the claim until settlement.

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoys spending time with her young family, and playing sports.

David Green joined Bakers Solicitors in 2006 as one of our Litigation Executives, and specialises in litigating cases with particular technical complexity.

David has over 30 years experience working in personal injury and claims management.

In his spare time David enjoys cycling, especially up hills, slowly.

Davina is currently on maternity leave

Davina joined Bakers Solicitors as a secretary in 2000 and started case handling in 2001 whilst simultaneously studying with the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX). She became a member of ILEX in 2006 and a Fellow in 2008.

Davina works in our Aldershot office dealing with a variety of personal injury claims including road traffic accidents, employers, public and occupier’s liability claims.

In her spare time Davina enjoys reading and cooking.

Edwina Abban

Edwina Abban

Litigation Executive

Edwina joined Bakers Solicitors in 2016 as a Litigation Executive and deals with public, employment and road traffic accident claims from cradle to grave.

Edwina obtained her law and business degree in 2011 and is an Affiliate Member of Cilex. She is currently studying with Cilex to qualify as a Chartered Legal Executive.

Prior to joining Bakers Edwina worked as a legal advisor in a national law firm specialising in road traffic accidents.

Edwina enjoys travelling with her children in her spare time.

Ellen Browne-Marke

Ellen Browne-Marke

Litigation Executive

Ellen joined Bakers Solicitors as a Paralegal in July 2014, and provides assistance to the Head of the Serious Injuries Unit by dealing with complex and high value claims at all stages of the litigation process.

Outside of work Ellen is active in her local church and enjoys baking and long distance running.

Eugene O'Sullivan

Litigation Assistant

Eugene obtained a LLB Law Degree from the University of Kent prior to joining Bakers Solicitors.

Eugene works as a paralegal and litigation assistant, overseeing different types of claim through their initial stages and aiding the senior litigation team with tasks when required. He aims to begin his Legal Practice Course and to qualify as a solicitor in the near future.

In his spare time, Eugene enjoys following the boxing and F1 motorsport, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Gemma Newman

Litigation Executive

Gemma joined Bakers in 2007 and has over 10 years experience in the personal injury field dealing with multi-track and portal claims from inception to settlement.

In her spare time, Gemma enjoys motorcycling, running and travelling.

James qualified as a Solicitor in 2011 after working as a Litigation paralegal for 6 years in a London Law Firm.

James joined Bakers Solicitors in May 2012 and specialises in personal injury claim including RTA, accidents at work, public and occupiers liability claims. James also has experience in package holiday and airplane injuries.

In his spare time James enjoys playing football, reading and catching up with friends.

Keith joined Bakers Solicitors in 2006 and has over 20 years experience working within the personal injury industry. A former regional claims manager for a leading composite insurance company, Keith has considerable knowledge of Employers, Public and Motor liability claims. Keith moved into claimant litigation in 1998.

Keith brings his wealth of experience to his position as Director of Operations at Bakers.

All this activity leaves little time for spare time activities but he is known to be a keen football supporter.

Lauren has specialised in personal injury since completing her Law Degree in 2015. She worked for another personal injury firm before joining Bakers in July 2016.

As a paralegal, Lauren deals with all types of claims in their initial stages and assists the Litigators in drafting Court documents. Lauren’s ultimate aim is to qualify as a Solicitor.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys reading, visiting new places and spending time with her friends and family.

Lesley Short

Having worked for a Legal Expenses Insurance company for 13 years advising and qualifying personal injury claims, Lesley utilises her experience in Bakers Road Traffic Accident Department dealing with highways accidents, including those involving pedestrians, cyclists, drivers, passengers, bus travellers and motorcyclists.

In her spare time Lesley loves listening to all kinds of music especially live bands. She also enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and walking her two dogs.

Michelle Davies

Having worked as a Legal Secretary in the Family Law sector for 12 years, Michelle changed to Personal Injury Law when she joined Bakers in 2012. Michelle has progressed her career within the Firm, and is now a Litigation Assistant dealing with all claims in their initial stages.

In her spare time, Michelle loves to spend time with family and friends and go on dog walks with her Springer Spaniel. She also enjoys field target shooting and is a member of her local target club.

Nick started his legal career in 1976. As a Senior Litigator with over 40 years experience of handling both High Court and County Court personal injury claims, he is passionate about protecting the rights of injured people, and fighting for proper compensation and appropriate treatment and rehabilitation on their behalf.

Having worked for a number of prominent firms in the past, Nick joined Bakers in January 2017 and brings his wealth of expertise to the firm.

Nick’s vast expertise includes workplace accident claims, accidents occurring in factories, involving manual handling, and defective machinery, office slips and trips as well as occupational deafness and hand/arm vibration syndrome claims. Supermarket slips and trips, holiday claims and defective product claims. Claims arising from Road Traffic Accidents. He has successfully negotiated large settlements for clients who have suffered serious injury.

Outside of the office, Nick likes to go walking and swimming. He also enjoys watching football and is an avid Chelsea supporter.

Paul McGovern

Paul McGovern

Litigation Executive

Paul’s working life extends to almost forty years. The week he started work coincided with the death of Elvis Presley!

Paul has had a variety of roles throughout his career, however, for the majority of his working life he has been employed on behalf of Insurance companies. He dealt directly with personal injury claims where proceedings had not been commenced. Where they had, he controlled the activities of instructed solicitors and ensured they acted in the best interests of the insurer.

Paul has Court of Appeal experience including an appearance before the Master of the Rolls. After a period drafting defences etc for a Firm acting on behalf of insurance companies, Paul has crossed to the other side of personal injury law, having joined Bakers Solicitors in 2016, where he now deals mainly with claimant work where liability is in dispute.

Paul has an interest in the spy novels of John le Carre and classical music. He is also a lifelong supporter of Everton Football Club. He and his wife both enjoy watching quiz programmes such as Mastermind and Pointless.

Philip (Phil) began his legal career as an Outdoor Clerk with Fancy & Jackson, which involved appearing before the Royal Courts of Justice, drawing up Orders and Writs. He also defended Insurance companies against personal injury claims.

In 1998 Phil moved into claimant law, representing victims of personal injury, which gives him valuable insight having worked on both sides of the fence. Phil became a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2009.

Having joined Bakers in April 2017, Phil deals with all types of personal injury work at all values, including road traffic accidents, accidents at work, NFCI claims for military personnel, holiday claims, defective products, slip/trip and public liability claims. Phil’s 25 years experience and knowledge ensure his client’s are in good hands.

Away from the office, Phil enjoys sports, including playing squash, cycling, skiing and swimming. DIY under duress and improving his negotiation skills with a 2 & 4 year old.

Rachel completed her LLB Law degree and Legal Practice Course before joining Bakers in January 2014.

Rachel works as a Paralegal as well as supporting the Complex Team, dealing with all types of claims throughout the different stages. Rachel enjoys developing her career and escalating as a person and her career goal is to become a qualified Solicitor.

In her spare time she enjoys drawing, spending time with friends and family and travelling.

Rebecca completed her LLB Law Degree and Legal Practice Course prior to joining Bakers Solicitors in 2016.

Rebecca works as a Paralegal, dealing with all types of claims in their initial stages. Her aim is to qualify as a Solicitor.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys walking her dog and spending time with friends & family.

Ross Carr

Ross Carr

Solicitor & Practice Manager

Ross joined Bakers in 2012 having spent 11 years plying his trade as a personal injury solicitor in the north east. With a background of mixed personal injury work ranging from highway trips & slips to industrial disease Ross has a broad range of experience, gained at a prominent north east trade union firm.

Ross' passion for technology and efficiency has come to the fore in recent years and has seen him move away from case handling to concentrate on IT and in particular the development of legal case management software to bring efficiencies to the personal injury claim process.

Initially concentrating on Bakers' legal case management software Ross has moved on to manage all aspects of IT and has more recently began dealing with all aspects of practice management.

Hailing from the north east Ross diligently follows Sunderland Football Club and enjoys the challenge of the Hampshire golf courses.

Stella Joined Bakers Solicitors in 2013. Working as a paralegal, she deals with the initial stages of all types of Personal Injury Claims, including accidents at work and public liability claims.

In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music and spending time with family and friends.

Steve Byng

Steve Byng

Investigator & Litigation Executive

Steve joined Bakers Solicitors in January 2011 having worked for us as a self employed Consultant for the previous 5 years.

Prior to this Steve worked for a multi-national insurer for 35 years, latterly in the role of Senior Claims Superintendent dealing with a range of personal injury claims arising from RTA, EL, PL and Product incidents and has a wealth of experience.

In his spare time Steve enjoys most sports, especially horse racing and football as well as walking his two dogs.

Vic has extensive experience having worked for over 40 years in the legal industry. He began his career with Thompson’s, a leading Trade Union firm, and spent 27 years dealing with accident cases covering a multitude of different industries including engineering, construction, manufacturing, industrial and transport.

Vic joined Bakers Solicitors in 2002 and is based in our Aldershot office where he has continued success dealing with public liability claims particularly highways accidents.

In his spare time Vic enjoys playing golf and reading.
