Motorcyclist hit by uninsured van driver
Mr DT from Cambridge was injured in road traffic incident whilst riding his motorcycle. He was admitted to hospital for a period of five weeks and as the accident was not his fault instructed Bakers Personal Injury Solicitors to make a claim for compensation for his injuries.
Mr DT was correctly riding in his own lane when suddenly and without warning a van changed lanes sideswiping him. The van driver was uninsured, driving without a licence or MOT certificate and denied responsibility for the incident claiming that it his van never made contact with Mr DT despite there being paint marks matching the colour of Mr DT’s motorcycle along the side of his vehicle.
The case went all the way to trial and the Judge found in our client’s favour. Thankfully Mr DT made a good recovery from his serious injuries which included fractures to both sides of his collar bones, left sided rib fractures and an associated lung injury, a small pneumothorax with complications of pneumonia, antibiotic-induced Clostndium Difficile and kidney failure and some other nasty associated complications. He won £30,000 in compensation made up of approximately £16,000.00 of damage to property, care, loss of earnings and other expenses and approximately £14,000 for his injuries.
