Bakers wins half million claim
Bakers Personal Injury Solicitors, a Hampshire-based law firm, has won a significant High Court personal injury case and secured a £492,254 compensation package for its client, James Blount, an engineer who was severely injured whilst servicing a lift in a City of London office building in April 2005.
`The compensation claim was paid by the insurers of the Defendants who were Mr Blount’s employers, Amalgamated Lifts Ltd. The final compensation figure is some twenty times higher than the original £25,000 settlement offer which was put forward just after the injuries were first sustained. This offer was made during a face-to-face meeting between Mr Blount and a representative of the defendants’ insurers at his home. It was suggested that Mr Blount sign an ‘acceptance form’ which was drafted as a full and final settlement.
