Compensation for accident in a lift Mohammed was getting into a lift with his two year old son to go up to their apartment, when the lift doors shut prematurely as they were still walking through. His son’s right hand got stuck in the door and his fingers were crushed in the accident. His father quickly pressed the emergency button to open the doors but nothing happened. Mohammed tried to open the lift doors himself, crushing his own hand in the process, and managed to free his son’s hand. They both attended their local A&E department where they had x-rays taken and received treatment for their injuries. Mohammed contacted us to pursue a claim against Birmingham City Council who managed the apartment block. The Council eventually admitted primary liability after Court proceedings had been served. Their claims settled before Trial, with both receiving compensation for their pain and suffering. See our full list of 'Accidents in Public Places' services.
